Harp Therapy
“Music is the light of the divine made audible to our ears. Through Harp Therapy we practice creating a 'cradle of sound' to cocoon the receiver with music that nourishes their soul. ”
— Christina Tourin
What is Harpy Therapy?
Harp Therapy is an ancient art practiced in Europe, Egypt and the Middle East. Recently this pioneering discipline has been revived. The Harp is a healing instrument that has a powerful resonance providing pure overtones that reverberate in our bodies impacting our entire physiology, emotional and mental state. Harp Therapy is currently being used in Hospitals, Rehabilitation, Integrated Health Facilities and Hospice Settings in 23 countries throughout the world. It incorporates Ancient Modes of Music, Kenisiology and Healing Cycles of Music. The resonant sound of the harp is used to provide comfort and care through creating a "cradle of sound" unique to the individual. Meeting a person with presence and offering them music to support exactly where they are in their healing experience allows the body and mind to relax to a degree that healing can take place. Our psyches and bodies know how to rebalance in their own time when enough supportive comfort is provided. The main areas addressed in harp therapy are breathing, anxiety, depression, fear and pain.
